Private Schools and Education

Founded in 1974, Lakeside was one of the first private schools in central Pinellas County to offer families a home for students from Kindergarten through grade 12. Our academic program focuses on the fundamental coursework aimed at preparing students for college. Parents bring their students for our quality classrooms, small class sizes, and instruction in a safe, caring Christian environment. In 2004, we began the Learning Solutions programs aimed at providing specific academic solutions not offered by other private schools in Clearwater, Pinellas and Tampa. A portion of our student population, like any private school population, includes students who suffer from learning struggles, learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, and poor organizational skills.

Many students come to our school to escape teasing and bullying experienced elsewhere or because of a negative life event complicating their ability to focus on their academics. We offer intervention learning solutions aimed at recovery and restoration. Students with learning struggles caused by poor prior learning are given a specific academic plan to recover through a variety of ways and means. Targeted therapy can provide recovery in any academic area. Deficient math skills are reestablished within a step by step program. Weekly resource classes help students with test prep and organizational skill improvement.

Our after-school programs concentrate on finishing homework so that parents and students can enjoy their evenings. After-school tutoring can provide that extra time needed for missed learning to be caught. Resource professionals work with classroom teachers integrating whole school solutions that quickly re-build student’s lack of confidence. Learning disabilities are met with solutions targeting the underlying cause, not the symptoms. A structure of programs and educators work to support each student towards a day when learning success is achieved on their own.

Classes at our private school are taught by accredited, motivated educators employing differentiated instruction methods aimed at meeting the needs of a wide variety of learning styles. All classrooms have electronic whiteboards and computers. Teachers are trained regularly to utilize technology so that learning is delivered in formats that students grasp easily. All curriculums are newer with most having technology and the latest learning methods integrated. No other private school in Clearwater, Pinellas and Tampa integrate so many solutions aimed at meeting the needs of diverse learners. In the process of meeting those needs the quality of education improves for all.

We consistently score in the top three of all Florida ACSI schools in their annual math competition. Most graduates qualify for Florida Bright Futures scholarships with many earning top scholarships with major universities.
