Our private school features the educational components most important to college prep high school academics. The foundational pieces necessary for success begin with a commitment to maintain quality and control of the educational product to ensure consistency to excellent standards. Small class sizes create the ability for our Teachers to establish personal relationships with students and understand their strengths, learning styles and weaknesses. Another foundational quality of our college prep high school academics is the teacher. Our staff love and care for their students. Each staff member teaches in the area of their degree specialty and feel God designed and gifted them for the role of teacher. Students at our private school know that they are cared for and there is a strong, team commitment to their success. Quality curriculum that is researched based and contains technology tools and differentiated learning methods is key. Our Administration oversees the quality of the school program requiring ongoing education of staff and implementation of technology tools and methods proven to promote success. Our college prep high school academic program focuses on the fundamental subjects necessary to prepare students to communicate in writing, with numbers and through utilizing technology.

Our christian school is a ministry of Lakeside Community Chapel of Clearwater. Preparing students to live biblically is the cornerstone to the program. Biblical teaching is central to a student’s ability to understand God’s creation in the context of the content they learn in the classroom. Understanding the gospel of Jesus Christ and what it means to be a Christian is a key component of their education. Our staff is hired for their teaching ability as well as their desire to serve God through education. A critical part of our high school is the integration of the Youth Ministry of Lakeside Community Chapel putting Youth Pastor Staff in the hallways and classrooms to mentor and counsel students biblically. Combined Ministry events allow students the opportunity to grow relationships in a safe and secure place. Wednesday night group activities, winter ski trips, and summer camping outings are major events in the lives of many students.

College prep high school academics include a high degree of technology integrated into our student's learning. Classrooms are connected to the internet via high speed fiber optic cable and are capable of blending on-demand educational video into daily learning activities. Classrooms are equipped with computerized white boards that offer teachers a wide array of software tools that enhance the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic aspect of the learning product. Quiz and test prep are often accomplished at home through the use of technology that makes learning fun while increasing retention. Interactive learning, peer-teaching and student creation of learning products lift knowledge off the page and into student hands.

Along with quality academics, parents seek safety and security when choosing a college prep high school program. Safety and security is not just intrusion from the outside but also the control of negative behaviors inside. Lakeside Christian School is in a secluded neighborhood of central Pinellas County with a controlled environment to promote student safety. Student behavior expectations include promotion of respect for others in word and action. Many students come to our private school due to persistent teasing and bullying at other schools finding the inviting, friendly environment conducive to learning. While many schools claim to be “fundamental” simply because their students where uniforms and are expected to meet behavior standards, Lakeside school staff, pastoral staff, and parents combine to create the atmosphere where students learn and seek after the high standards of behavior that God requires of them.

Our private education programs are accredited by ACSI, SACS and NILD, signifying our desire to put our program up to inspection by professionals and to high standards. We feature FHSAA and FCAPPS athletics at the varsity level. Lakeside is not an exclusive school for professing Christians or for the top students in academic ability. We are a ministry and mission to the local communities of Pinellas County focused on preparing every student to meet the standards of college coursework. Multiple programs are available helping students recover when learning becomes a struggle. These programs team up with the classroom teachers, resource staff, and Pastoral staff, to meet the needs of each individual who chooses to finish their education in our college prep high school.
